WATER LEVEL - 1027.59

Mid-day temperatures hovering around 70° really do not help duck hunting but when in Rome one should learn to do what the locals do. And now early morning duck, goose or pheasant hunting and then noon or later fishing for bass, trout or marble eyes is the way to go. Bass really take spinner baits this time of year. Don't bee afraid to cast any little stick or ledge in Crab Creek. Cast a DC-13 or Baby Hot Lips in Lind Coulee at the points for nice smallmouth. Still fishing with a powerbait and night crawler combination, or "Joe'sPEEPS" with crawler or powerbait, or just a night crawler and marshmallow combination at the mouth of Frenchman's Wasteway. Still fishermen are finding trout at Frenchman's in 20 to 25 feet of water. Walleye continue strong for many anglers. The mouth of Crab Creek trolled or the face of the sand dunes trolled have been the best areas but the Goose Island area has been producing larger walleye. Perch have been showing best at the mouth of Lind Coulee or the Medicare Beach area. Soda, Long and Crescent have not been reported at all but this time of year until the Bureau closes the Potholes Canal (the third Monday of October) the seep lakes on the Potholes Canal can be productive. The fall walleye and bass patterns are not quite here yet. And the warm sunny days have been awesome.
